Okay, let's be real for a hot second – fall is officially here, and I'm basically vibrating with excitement to get back into my kitchen. Cooking isn't just my passion; it's practically my love language (and yes, I'm still manifesting that cookbook deal, universe – are you listening? I'm ready!).

There's something magical about food that just hits different, you know? It brings people together, triggers those "remember when" moments, and creates those little rituals we treasure. Kind of like when you light that perfect Coal and Canary candle and suddenly your whole house feels like a hug ;)

This month, I'm coming at you with a recipe that's about to become your new fall obsession: Maple Frosted Cinnamon Buns. Trust me when I say these bad boys are soft, gooey, and will make your kitchen smell like fall had a baby with a bakery. Perfect for lazy weekend brunches or when you need to treat yourself because, let's face it, you deserve nice things.

Oh, and because I can't do anything without a soundtrack, I've paired this whole experience with my Coal and Canary September Vibes playlist. Because what's cooking without some good music to get you moving? Grab that apron, click that Spotify link, crank up those tunes, and let's make some cozy fall magic happen!

The Joy of Getting Your Hands Dirty

Look, cooking for me isn't just about creating some amazing smells in my kitchen (look out candle workshop!). It's my creative outlet, my therapy session, and my love language all rolled into one flour-covered package. There's something deeply satisfying about taking basic ingredients and turning them into something amazing that brings a smile to my face.

When I'm rolling out dough for these cinnamon buns, I'm already picturing the chaos and laughter that's about to fill my kitchen. The smell of cinnamon and maple? Pure nostalgia in the air, bringing back all those cozy family moments that make your heart feel full. So without further adieu - here is my recipe for Maple Frosted Cinnamon Buns - happy baking!

Maple Frosted Cinnamon Buns Recipe

AKA "The Rolls That Will Ruin Store-Bought Forever"

Ingredients:

For the Dough (the foundation of greatness):

  • 1 cup warm milk – not hot enough to kill the yeast!

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar

  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 4 – 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling (where the magic happens):

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 ½ tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Maple Frosting (the grand finale):

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (the real deal, not that fake stuff)

  • 1–2 tbsp milk (for when you inevitably make it too thick)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Make the Dough:

  1. Mix warm milk and yeast in a large bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it gets all foamy and alive-looking.

  2. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Mix until everything plays nicely together.

  3. Gradually stir in flour, one cup at a time, until you've got yourself a proper dough situation.

  4. Knead that baby for 6-8 minutes until it's smooth and elastic (yes, your arms will get a workout).

  5. Plop it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles. This takes about an hour, perfect time for a coffee break. (Plop is the right term, right?)

Prepare the Filling (the easy part): While your dough is doing its thing, mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside and try not to eat it with a spoon.

Assemble the Rolls (the fun part):

  1. Punch down that risen dough (so satisfying!) and roll it into a 16x12 inch rectangle.

  2. Spread softened butter like you're painting a masterpiece.

  3. Sprinkle that cinnamon-sugar mixture with abandon – don't be shy!

  4. Roll it up tight from the long side, pinch the seam like you mean it.

  5. Cut into 12 pieces and arrange in a greased baking dish.

  6. Cover and let them rise another 30 minutes (more coffee time- yaaas!).

Bake and Frost (the moment of truth):

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and gorgeous.

  3. While they're baking, whisk together all frosting ingredients until smooth and drizzle-worthy.

  4. Let the rolls cool just enough so you don't burn your tongue!

The Perfect Cozy Vibes Playlist

Music is a non-negotiable in our kitchen. My Coal and Canary September Vibes playlist is a carefully curated mix of beats that'll put you right into that fall feeling. Trust me, your baking game hits different when you've got the right soundtrack playing in the background!

Sweet Endings

And there you have it – your ticket to Maple Frosted Cinnamon Bun bliss, complete with a playlist.

Whether you're sharing these beauties with your favourite people or hoarding them all to yourself (no judgment here!), remember that cooking is about joy, connection, and love. So light that candle, blast the music, drink all the coffee, and let autumn work its cozy magic in your home.

Catch you next month in Amanda's Cozy Corner! 💛
