7 Fun Things to Do in Winnipeg In September
Summer is officially over. As much as we never want summer to end, fortunately September is filled with fun activities, making the transition to fall just a little bit easier. From good food, to art and entertainment, we have rounded up some of our fave things going down in the ‘Peg this month.
What? Le Burger Week
When? September 1st to September 7th
Where? Across the city
It’s the week we’ve all been waiting for. Le Burger Week is a weeklong festival that takes place each year in cities across Canada, during which participating restaurants compete by creating unique burgers. This year, over 120 restaurants are creating delicious and crazy burgers. Check out the line up here and get out there and try as many as you can. We fo sho know we'll be eating way too many burgers.
What? Lights of the North- Chinese Lantern Festival
How much? From $18 to $22.50
When? From August 31st to October 14th
Where? Red River Exhibition Park
You probably don’t know, but Winnipeg is a sister city with Chengdu in China for 30 years now. To celebrate this important anniversary, The Red River X will be transformed into a giant exposition of Chinese lantern art. Not only are these lantern exhibits stunning, but they also make for the perfect backdrop for your insta. There will be performances by Changdu acrobats and dancers, as well food. There will be carnival rides, games, and augmented reality experiences. Oh, and of course there will be a beer garden.
What? ManyFest
When? September 7th to September 9th
Where? Memorial Park and Broadway
ManyFest is Winnipeg’s biggest street festival. There will be fun activities for everyone- live music, movies in the park, a beer garden, an urban market, and more. The food truck war also takes place during ManyFest. Don’t even get us started on how excited we are!

What? The Poutine Cup

Are you kidding us? An entire festival dedicated to poutine? Sign us up! During the Poutine Cup, ten restaurants compete over the course of one night to win over the crowd and judges’ heart (and of course, their bellies too). Not only do you get all-you-can-eat poutine, but also 3 drinks. The historic Fort Gibraltar is about to turn up, with good music, food, and drinks.
What? Brew at the Zoo

Where? Assiniboine Park & Zoo
This will be a one-of-a-kind experience at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Brew at the Zoo is an adults-only event that will be showcasing the growing craft brewery industry in Manitoba. Enjoy craft beer sampling, yummy food, and live music surrounded by polar bears and other arctic furry creatures. How crazy cool is this?

Every year, Nuit Blanche makes the city comes alive. Held annually since 2010, Nuit Blanche is an all-night celebration of contemporary art. There will be multiple events throughout the city, all free to the public. It’s time to get cultured and take cute artsy pics. Be there or be square! 😉

Explore the home of the former Manitoba premier, Sir Hugh Jogn Macdonald, through the tales of the spirits of politicians and servers that have lived there.
