Since the Coal and Canary team looooves cupcakes (we don’t have a Cupcakes & Confetti candle for no reason!), we decided to feature sweet C bakery this week!
This bakery is known for being Winnipeg’s first producer of edible raw cookie dough. Waaahhh?! Yup, you read that right. But wait for it… they also make candy sushi! That’s just incredible, check it out below!

The bakery is located in the heart of Transcona. We caught up with the CEO and owner of sweet C bakery, Cori Poon, who tells us how her bakery got started!
"It started out as a way to help put food on the table. I wanted to be a stay at home mom, but money was super tight," says Poon. "We then saw a need in the market for classic homemade goods, but at the convenience of online. Then of course we started our candy sushi, which has taken of like wild fire."

Coal and Canary candles have been in sweet C bakery for just under a year. Cori loves carrying local products in her bakery and stresses the importance of shopping local.
"By supporting local, not only are you supporting these families that are the back bone to the communities, but you are supporting your local economy," says Poon. "You are putting food on the table for a family or helping put kids in extracurricular activities, while you are getting a better-quality product than you can find in stores."
